Where would a Missionary Kid be without his trusty LEGOs?
They are, or more precisely were, the coolest toys I ever had. I say "were" because they took a turn downhill where I was about 10 or so. I think the last LEGO set that I really liked was the Insectizoids or whatever, the ones that were giant insects. Those were great and the ones preceeding them were better. But of late I feel that the crativity going into LEGOs has deminished. It used to be that they had a variety of parts that could be used for alot of different things. Now, however, they make a new part for everything and those new parts dont do anything else. For instance, Bionicles, I remember when LEGO branched out into thos types of things, they werent even called Bionicles, they were called "Disc Throwers" i have a few of those. Then they put out a new line of the "Bionicle" name. Now I think that they could have made them a whole lot better if they had made it easyer to take the th9ings apart and build somthing yourself with them whitout having to have an engeneering degree.
My brother and me spent hours makeing everything imaginable out of LEGOs. We made space ships, cars, tanks, hand guns, we even built a few variations of the Starship Enterprise. My Brother was a veritable genius with those things, he was the brains of our duo. And the best part came after we had buit all our stuff, we played with it. We had such cool imaginary worlds and plots and stuff, it would keep us entertained for hours! We ran a space station, a Private Investigator office, and an intergalactic peace keeping force, all from the comfort of our bedroom!
I miss those days. Now my brother is gone to college and my little sister is a little annoying at times, but I know she loves me deep down iside her .............somwhere. And I'm growing up and forgetting how to be a kid *sniff*.
Ah well. Such is life.
